“Thank you for the opportunity to present our solution” and so on.

You think these are better and you start using them. But if you look at them closely, you will find fluffy words that are not required in first place. Honestly, there is no need to use “thank you” in the opening of a sentence. Your opening statement must talk about your customers. Write something that represents you as a partner.

Your opening sentence should make the reader believe in you and that you have the solution to the concerns he has. It should not sound a legal document but the starting of the proposal should be more like a greeting to an old friend.

The opening statement is an opportunity for to connect with your reader. Instead of wasting the space in writing ‘thank you,’ you can actually reinstate the problem of the customer. He will enjoy the read for sure.
